Archives For May 2013

darlington_c_thumbDarlington Raceway in northeastern South Carolina has a race history dating back to 1950, and when it comes to the biggest and baddest stock car racing series on the planet, this weekend’s races will be the 110th such NASCAR event on this 1.366-mile track. Seven hundred NASCAR racers have competed here — 423 of them more than once. And for you trivia aficionados, you should know that more Chevrolets have crossed the finish line first than Fords (40 to 28).

Now that you’re armed with all this mental minutia, we here at CV Products hope to see you in South Carolina Friday and Saturday. Our staff will be on hand with tractor-trailer loads of our products available for sale in the pits for racers and spectators with Hot Passes alike.

Here’s how this week’s CV Products Trackside Program is lining up:

American Le Mans Monterey

American_LeMans_Monterey_LogoWith the win at Long Beach in the No. 55 Z4 GTE, Bill Auberlen and Maxime Martin stand in a tie atop the Driver points as teams ready for the four-hour American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, this Saturday. talladega_superspeed_c_thumbAll four of the auto racing events CV Products is scheduled to attend this weekend take place in the great state of Alabama, and three of those will be staged at the historic tri-oval known as Talladega Superspeedway. Of course we’ll have trailers in the pits at all four events for teams last-minute must-have gear, as well as spur-of-the-moment impulse buys.

If Alabama is where you’re headed this weekend, be sure to look us up:

International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250

Int_MS_HOF_250You talk about tight turnarounds — after competing in the 93rd ARCA race at Salem on Sunday, the series immediately steers for Talladega where the 51st annual Int’l Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 is set for this Friday afternoon, May 3. That’s 94 laps around the Talladega tri-oval for the likes of Frank Kimmel, the only former ARCA series champ entered in Friday’s race. He’ll be making his 20th start at Talladega since 1992. The only other Talladega champion entered Friday is Bobby Gerhart, an eight-time winner at Daytona, who had a 2001 win at Talladega.

Aaron’s 312

aarons312_thumbThe Aaron’s 312 is a NASCAR Nationwide Series race that’s been held at Talladega Superspeedway since 2001. So why 312 miles? The race’s sponsor is a lease-to-own retailer, and the dozen extra miles are tacked on to reflect Aaron’s slogan: “3 ways to buy, 12 reasons to shop at Aaron’s.” Now there’s a little trivia for the guy sitting next to you at Talladega this Friday.
