Darlington Raceway in northeastern South Carolina has a race history dating back to 1950, and when it comes to the biggest and baddest stock car racing series on the planet, this weekend’s races will be the 110th such NASCAR event on this 1.366-mile track. Seven hundred NASCAR racers have competed here — 423 of them more than once. And for you trivia aficionados, you should know that more Chevrolets have crossed the finish line first than Fords (40 to 28).

VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero200
Joe Nemechek makes his 400th start in the Nationwide series this Friday, joining Kenny Wallace, Jason Keller, Mike Wallace, Tommy Houston and David Green on that list. NSCS regulars have won the last 10 NNS races at Darlington Raceway. Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth will be among the NSCS regulars competing in the race.

Bojangles’ Southern 500
Richard Petty – whose last competitive race was back on November 15, 1992 – has more Top 5 finishes at Darlington (25) than any other auto racer in history. Jeff Gordon leads all active drivers with 18. Top contenders going into this race are Jimmie Johnson with 383 Sprint Cup Series points; Carl Edwards with 342 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. with 324.
