For a fifth consecutive year, CV Products is sponsoring a pair of events that benefit charities for which our company cares deeply. We’ll be actively participating in a 5k walk/run on Saturday, Sept. 29, beginning in the East Davidson High School parking lot in Thomasville, N.C., and then a car show the following Saturday (Oct. 6) at our own headquarters, across the street from the high school.
We’ve got more information about both events below, but first we want to introduce you to the two organizations that will benefit from these timely events. This is the 5th annual running for both the walk/run and car show, and proceeds benefit Victory Junction and The Childress Institute, two organizations that focus all of their attention on children with health care needs or youngsters who have been seriously injured and require help getting through unforeseen disabilities.
Victory Junction is an 84-acre camp for special kids with health care needs. Children who attend the camp suffer from one of two-dozen chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses, including autism, cancer, diabetes, hemophilia, sickle cell and spina bifida.
Located in Randleman, N.C., the camp has enriched the lives of more than 14,000 children and families since it’s opening in 2004. The camp and its staff provides a camping experience for children from all 50 states as well as four countries. A total of 30 hospitals work with Victory Junction — as well as thousands of volunteers — each providing exceptional care to these young campers.
The second organization that will benefit from the walk/run and car show is The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma, which works to save injured children’s lives and help them recover quickly. Serious injury is the top killer of children in the United States, yet the risk of death is significantly less when an injured child is treated in a pediatric trauma center.
That’s because injured kids can’t be treated as if they were small adults. They require the experience and age-specific equipment that can only be provided by trauma centers specifically created for them. Former NASCAR driver and current team owner Richard Childress and his wife Judy established The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after discovering that traumatic injury resulted in the death of more children than all other causes combined.

Participants in next Saturday’s 5k walk/run pay $15 if registered before Sept. 21, and $20 after that date. Registration includes a T-shirt, and the walk/run starts off in the parking lot beside the football stadium at East Davidson High School. The finish line is at our parking lot at 42 Tech Blvd. (To register, click on the image of the PDF file to the right.)
The car show on Oct. 6 will be held rain or shine and will feature car show awards in the following categories:

Registration to show your prize ride begins the day of the show with judging concluding at 3 p.m.
In addition to shiny vintage cars and an exciting competition, there will be plenty of activities for the youngsters, including bounce houses, face painting, a wood working station, clowns, and game stations. (Click on the image of the image of the PDF file to the right for more information.)
