Late last year, the head honchos here at CV Products got together to choose our Employee of The Year. Officially recognized with the Larry “Bunk” Nichols Award for outstanding achievement, the employee of the year must meet specific criteria, including:
- Work at the company or one of our subsidiaries for at least three (3) years
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic
- Support humanitarian efforts
- Uphold our three core values (integrity, teamwork, and safety)
Our 2013 employee of the year – CV’s Continuous Improvement Facilitator, Chris Horton – certainly lived up to the standards we set for outstanding achievement. This October, Chris will celebrate his 15-year anniversary with our company. After joining us in 1999, he worked his way up through the warehouse to the Warehouse Manager position before being promoted to his current job.
A volunteer firefighter in our local community, Chris was instrumental in the success of two recent projects here at CV. As many people know, in April of 2013, we acquired Cycra Racing Systems. What you may not know is that Chris was a member of the team that frequently traveled to Hebron, OH, to help with the transition of Cycra into CV Products. Ultimately, Chris’ insight into how to work through a myriad of logistics involved with transitioning a company from one state to another helped to successfully transition Cycra into its new home here in North Carolina.
Another project where Chris proved to be instrumental in 2013 was our Tiger Team Initiative. In short, the Tiger Team was responsible for recommending how to handle inventory of overstocked items that had built up over the first three quarters of 2013. Chris played a critical role in identifying the excess inventory and implementing a very successful Q4 overstock sales program.
In his current position with the company, Chris is responsible for identifying and putting into place lean operational procedures that make CV run more efficiently and achieve a higher level of customer satisfaction. All of us here at CV Products are honored to call Chris a co-worker, and truly proud to call him Employee of The Year!
