Nothing memorializes Memorial Day quite like a day at the races, where patriotism just seems to be part of the package, along with noise and the smell of high-test fuel. And this Memorial Day weekend, we’ll be making appearances at a quartet of events — three of them in North Carolina. In between barbecues, you might want to stop by one of these race venues and take a peek at what we’re selling inside those massive 53-foot long trailers. We’ve got gear for racers and spectators with access to the pits alike!

Here’s where we’ll be this holiday weekend:

With $30,000 first-place prize money up for grabs, Memorial Day weekend and the Show-Me 100 are not only a tradition at the Lucas Oil Speedway, they’re almost a requirement for Missouri stock car race fans. In addition to a bevy of track events, the sprawling speedway in Wheatland features 40 acres of camping, a pair of lakes, a vendor midway and events ranging from beauty contests to bounce houses for the kids.

Krazy Kevin Powell 150

Krazy-Kevine-Powell-150-Race-LogoThe PASS South Super Late Models start the weekend off Friday with the “Krazy” Kevin Powell 150. The two drivers enter Friday night’s event separated by just six points for the PASS South points lead. Pit gates opening at 2 p.m., followed by rotating practice from 2 to 4 p.m., qualifying at 6:30 p.m. and main event racing scheduled for 8 p.m.

History 300

history300thumb_13Saturday’s History 300 at Charlotte marks the beginning of a 21-week stretch in which the Nationwide series will be on the track every single weekend thru the second week of October. That means no time off for racers, which means a five-month stretch with little opportunity for drivers to regroup, take a break, or mentally collect themselves. This race marks the start of a grueling schedule that will definitely separate the men from the boys.

This 600-mile marathon begins in the heat of the day and — 400 laps later — ends in the dark, which is taxing on driver concentration because you can’t just cruise at the beginning in hopes of making a late charge. Kasey Kahne won the 2012 running of the Coca-Cola 600, but five-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson has won the Coca-Cola 600 three times with six Charlotte victories overall. His next win will make him the track’s all-time winner.

  • Series: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
  • When: Sunday, May 26
  • Racetrack: Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • Location: Concord, North Carolina
  • Note: CV’s trailer is in the pits and available for people with pit passes only
  • For More Info: visit Charlotte Motor Speedway online
  • Can’t make it to the track: Catch the race on FOX, PRN Radio, SiriusXM Satellite Radio starting at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT
