Trackside at Kansas Speedway

Trackside at Kansas Speedway

This weekend features tons of great racing. From a 200-mile race at Mid-Ohio, a 400-miler at Michigan International Speedway, and 150-lapper at South Boston Speedway, to a Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway and a 100-mile race at the Illinois State Fairground, this weekend’s slate of races promises solid action on a variety of tracks and locations.

Like our unofficial slogan says, at CV Products, we’re here when you need us (online 24/7/365 at www.CVProducts.com) and there when you want us (at the six races listed below, including the SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway, which is pictured above and to the right):

Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200

nationwidechildrens200thumbWhat to watch for: With half-a-dozen races remaining before a new NASCAR Nationwide Series champion is crowned, predicting the outcome is becoming harder with every passing weekend. After last Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen in upstate New York, only 74 points separate the top-10 drivers in the standings – a difference that the 10th-place driver (Parker Kligerman) could plausibly make up in only two races. The outcome of this weekend’s race at Mid-Ohio should make everything in the points standings as clear as mud!

  • When: Saturday, August 17
  • Racetrack: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course – Lexington, OH

More important, Edwards has nine top-five finishes in 18 starts at Michigan!

NASCAR-Whelen-LogoWhat to watch for: The Pro All Stars Series returns to South Boston Speedway this Saturday for what appears to be another great day and night of practice sessions, qualifying and all out pedal to the metal racing. In particular, South Boston Speedway track general manager Cathy Rice is offering a $2,000 bounty to any driver who can score a victory over three-time track winner and defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam. Practice sessions for PASS Super Late Model, Legends and NASCAR Late Model drivers runs from 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. (ET), followed by time trials at 4:30 p.m., and a trackside fan appreciation event from 5:45 p.m. to 6 :45 p.m. The Green Flags start to drop at 7 p.m. with a 25-lap Legends race, a 75-lap NASCAR Late Model race, a 150-lap PASS Super Late Model race, and then another 75-lap NASCAR Late Model race.
