CV Trackside Program Stops in Dover and Lime Rock

The ‘Monster Mile’ once again plays hosts to the Trackside Program from CV Products. This time around, there are three races on the docket at Dover, while our other Trackside crew will be in the northwest corner of Connecticut for a trio of championship races at Lime Rock Park.

Here’s exactly where to find the CV Trackside Program this weekend:

Drive Sober 150

Friday’s “Drive Sober 150” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety race kicks off a tripleheader weekend of action at Dover International Speedway, followed by the Saturday, Sept. 28 NASCAR Nationwide Series race and Sunday, Sept. 29 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the third event in the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Points leader Dylan Kwasniewski has a mathematical shot at clinching the 2013 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship at Dover International Speedway. He brings a 23-point lead on Brett Moffitt into the Drive Sober 150. Kwasniewski can move into a tie with Brad Leighton for second on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East single-season wins list with a victory, which would be his sixth of 2013.

Championship Weekend

They don’t call it “Championship Weekend” for nothing. A trio of championship battles close out 2013 Rolex Series, Continental Tire Challenge campaigns at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT, this weekend, and CV Products will be trackside supporting all of the drivers and their teams. Championships are on the line in all five classes: Daytona Prototype, GT, GX, Grand Sport and Street Tuner. The weekend’s main event, a two hour 45 minutes race for the Rolex Series’ DP, GT and GX classes, is set for 1:30 p.m. ET Saturday and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 2. FOX Sports 1 will re-air the event at noon ET on Sunday.

5-Hour Energy 200 (Benefiting Living Beyond Breast Cancer)

NASCAR appears to be in good hands if the current crop of young, winning drivers in the series is any indicator. While the Nationwide series features a nice blend of veteran and up-and-coming drivers, it’s the latter that are turning heads. There are currently six drivers in the top 15 in points 25 years or younger: Brian Scott (25), Austin Dillon (23), Parker Kligerman (23), Trevor Bayne (22), Kyle Larson (21) and Alex Bowman (20). Between the six drivers Scott is the most experienced with 136 NNS races under his belt. Of the six, only Dillon and Bayne have victories over the course of their careers, both with two. Dillon is currently second in the standings going into this weekend’s 5-Hour Energy Benefiting Living Beyond Breast Cancer race, 15 points behind leader Sam Hornish Jr. Scott is seventh (-79); Bayne is eighth (-94); Larson is ninth (-140), Kligerman is 10th (-179) and Bowman is 11th (-223)

AAA 400

Matt Kenseth quietly is in pursuit of Chase history. Okay – maybe not so quietly. Winning the opening two races of the 2013 Chase qualifies as making ‘some’ noise. A victory in Sunday’s AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway (2 p.m. ET ESPN, MRN Radio, SiriusXM Satellite Radio) will give Kenseth title to the Chase’s first opening “triple.” Others have tried and failed: Greg Biffle in 2008 and Tony Stewart in 2011. Biffle’s streak ended in Kansas, where he finished third. Stewart, despite finishing 25th at Dover, went on to win his third championship. Kenseth twice has won at the “Monster Mile,” most recently in the spring of 2011. He’s led four of the past five races and logged eight top-five finishes from 2008 through spring of 2012.
