With temps expected to be in the 70s under cloudy skies in Thomasville, it’s looking to be a comfortable jaunt for those participating in CV Product’s 5K Walk/Run this Saturday.
So far more than 50 participants have already preregistered for the event, which will benefit Victory Junction and the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma — two organizations that have the health and welfare of children foremost in mind.
A half dozen of our own employees are penciled in for the race, including three of our accounting staff members — Denise Lanier, Belinda Conrad and Nidia Cruz. In addition, three of our warehouse team members are participating, including David Heaton, who finished fourth in last year’s event; Elliott Vickers, who took third-place honors in 2011; and Robert Peele.
The walk/run begins at 8 a.m. sharp with the pink Victory Junction truck — pictured above, donated by singer Taylor Swift — leading the pack out of the parking lot beside the football stadium at East Davidson High School. The finish line is at our headquarters at 42 Tech Blvd., and a Victory Junction camper will be on hand to hand out awards to the winners.
If you’re interested in participating, there’s plenty of room on the road. The cost is $20 and you also get a T-shirt commemorating the event. For more information, call John Stilley at (800) 448-1223, Ext. 1155, or just show up and ask any of the CV Product volunteers for answers.
Remember that all the money raised at this event goes to two great causes: Victory Junction, a camp specifically operated to help children two suffer from chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses; and the Childress Institute, which works to save youngsters who have been seriously injured, and then help them to fully recover.
