Archives For Myrtle Beach

MBS-Logo-300x101The CV Products Trackside Crew is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this weekend for the 22nd Annual Myrtle Beach 400. This year’s event — transformed into a two-day campaign because of the threat of rain on Sunday — features NASCAR Late Models, Southeast Limited Late Model Series Pro and Challenger, Super Trucks, and Mini Stocks.

Just in case the crowd needed more excitement than you can get from a compressed schedule, David Ragan — who won the 2011 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona and the 2013 Aaron’s 499 at Talladega — is scheduled to compete alongside the other talented drivers taking to Myrtle Beach Speedway’s semi-banked asphaltic oval that spans 0.538 miles. Over the years, MBS has been the training ground for some of the sport’s biggest names, including Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and all four generations of Pettys (Lee, Richard, Kyle, and Adam).

Here’s how tomorrow’s schedule is shaping up:

7:30 am – 8:00 am: NASCAR Late Models Drivers Meeting

8:00 am – 9:00 am: Super Truck Practice

9:00 am – 10:30 am: Modified Practice

We think it is indeed fitting that “Veterans Track Day at the Beach” is scheduled Wednesday at the newly renovated Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina — just one day before the Fourth of July. And we here at CV Products will be on hand all day to support the Wounded Warrior Project in an event that offers these injured vets the experience of a lifetime.

What’s going to happen on Wednesday — thanks to Mooresville, NC’s own Jake Engle, a professional NASCAR driver in the Whelen All American Series — is that about 75 of these wounded warriors will have the opportunity to get down and dirty in a VIP zip around Myrtle Beach Speedway’s .563-mile racetrack. They’ll be passengers in a number of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars and NASCAR trucks.

And while they’re waiting for their clip around the short track, they can watch Engle test his Late Model, offering them a close-up on-the-concrete look at what happens on race day. That’ll be him behind the wheel of the #2 Ford Fusion.

“We’ll have about 75 wounded warriors at the track,” Engle told Andy Marquis of race22.com. “We’re renting the track and we’ll be having a good time out there. We’re letting them experience what we do at the track during the day.”

During this time, Wounded Warrior Project participants will meet Jake and his team, get a close up look at his car, explore the pits, ask questions, hang out and have fun with other military alumni and their families. Chick-fil-A, one of the supporters of the program along with CV Products, will provide lunch at 11:30 a.m.

CV-Products-Trackside-VegasThe NASCAR-sanctioned Myrtle Beach 400 highlights this weekend’s events, a race that was postponed way back in November of last year. It’s been rescheduled for this Friday and we can pretty much guarantee it was worth the wait. Long known as the place to get a first look-see at future NASCAR champions, Myrtle Beach Speedway is where the biggest stars cut their teeth. We’re talking about four generations of Petty boys and three generations of Earnhardts for starters. This is a double-header weekend at this recently purchased and newly renovated racetrack in South Carolina.

Meanwhile, in Southern California — way over there on the left coast — you can find our CV Products tractor-trailer at a pair of NASCAR events within the noisy confines of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. We’ll be supplying parts and products to race teams at all four events on both coasts. Here’s our weekend schedule:

Myrtle-Beach-400-Logo20th Annual Myrtle Beach 400

Inaugural Spring Challenge at the Beach

Saturday will be the second big day for the two divisions, plus two other support classes. NASCAR Late Model racecars put in 150 laps; Southeast Limited drives do 100 laps; the Southeast Challenger is a 50-lap race; and, the Mini Mayhem is a 100-lap race. In all, the Saturday schedule calls 400 laps of racing!

Royal Purple 300

Royal-Purple-300-LogoThis race marks the fifth on the NASCAR Nationwide Series for 2013, an event that saw Joey Logano lead the pack for 92 laps before collecting the checkered last year. Logano won’t be here this weekend, but Kyle Busch will. Busch holds the record for most Nationwide wins at Auto Club Speedway with five — all taking place within the last seven races at the Fontana venue.
