Archives For Lucas Oil 200

It promises to be a busy, busy weekend on the asphalt at a half-dozen auto racing venues between now and Sunday, and as usual, we’ll be on hand to provide needed race gear for drivers, crews and spectators who hold coveted pit passes. Things start off hot and heavy on Friday at Dover International Speedway in Delaware for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, followed by the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday.

Here’s a full breakdown of where we’ll be and how to watch these races if you can’t make it out to the track yourself:

Lucas Oil 200

LucasOil200@DoverAll bets are off when the green flag drops on Friday’s Lucas Oil 200, where previous winners come from all corners of the nation. Kurt Busch — a rookie back in 2000 — won the inaugural race that year, and Jason Leffler, Chad Chaffin, Scott Speed, Brian Scott and Aric Almirola scored their first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victories at “The Monster Mile.” In fact, there have been a dozen different winners in the event’s 13 seasons. Kyle Busch, the series’ second-leading career winner, is the only driver to visit Victory Lane twice.

  • Series: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
  • When: Friday, May 31
  • Racetrack: Dover International Speedway
  • Location: Dover, Delaware
  • Catch it on TV / Radio: 4:30 p.m. ET on SPEED Channel; Sirius XM Channel 90
  • Note: Our trailer will be in the pits (pit pass required for entry)

5-Hour Energy 200

5HE 200 LogosWith eight Top-10 finishes in a row, Regan Smith leads the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the 5-Hour Energy 200 with a 29-point advantage over Sam Hornish Jr. in the series point standings, while Kyle Busch, who has won 7 out of this year’s 10 races, isn’t eligible for points or the Nationwide title because NASCAR doesn’t allow full-time Sprint Cup drivers to be compete for the championship unless they forfeit their eligibility for a Cup title. So far this year, 11 Nationwide Series drivers are within 100 points of the points lead, compared to seven this time last year.

FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks

fedex400thumbLast spring’s Dover victory was Jimmy Johnson’s seventh at the track dubbed “The Monster Mile,” where he’s finished in the Top Five 11 out of 22 races. That’s 50 percent, folks. He’s led laps in 11 Dover starts in a row — eight of those times in double figures. But Johnson’s statistics looked good last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway where an accident left him in 22nd place. Nevertheless, he continues to lead 2007 Dover winner Carl Edwards in Spring Cup standings by 32 points. Two-time Dover winner Matt Kenseth sits in third 51 points back while last year’s Sprint Cup Champion Brand Keselowski is 110 points behind and in 10th place.

NASCAR Hall of Fame 150

NASCAR_Hall_Of_Frame_LogoIf ever the term redemption was appropriate, it’s this Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium for Brett Moffitt, a fifth-year driver from Iowa who has scored nine wins at eight different tracks. But not at Bowman Gray Stadium where he’s met nothing but misfortune. Continue reading
