GRITSYou mention the word “grits” in the South and the first image that comes to mind is a bowl of ground corn porridge served at breakfast, usually topped with grated cheese, butter, sausage or country ham red-eye gravy. But here in North Carolina, we know that when you see the word GRITS in all capital letters, the acronym stands for the Great Racing Industry Trade Show.

This year’s inaugural show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord, N.C. And since CV Products is such a big part of the racing scene — especially in North Carolina — you can expect to see us both days in Booth No. 1232, where we’ll be showing off our new Sprint Car Cam Drive.

Our display is expected to draw engine builders and racers alike to get first-hand technical information on our shiny new car cam drive from one of our experienced and knowledgeable CV sales reps.

GRITS is expected to draw racers, industry professionals and companies — and the public — anyone with an interest in circle track racing, including dirt late models, modifieds, stock cars and sprint cars. The show promises exhibitions of products and services, including a free Continue reading

Now here’s a win-win proposition for high performance racing enthusiasts. CV Products and Mobil 1 Racing are sponsoring “Mobil 1 Puts You in the Driver’s Seat,” an online drawing that will see the winner walking away with a day of race driving education at the Bob Bondurant Driving School in Phoenix, Ariz. The winner also receives $1,200 in travel expenses.

The History of CV Products

CV Everything Racing LogoThere’s a good reason why the sloganEverything Racing” is a registered trademark of CV Products and that’s because our North Carolina-based operation is consistently striving to produce and present the best technology possible to those immersed in the auto racing industry.

After nearly a quarter of a century in business, our service-oriented company continues to develop parts and equipment with both the performance and motor sports industry in mind. With locations in Thomasville, N.C., and Mooresville — about 50 miles to the southwest — CV Products is a privately owned and operated company started in the late 1980s by former stock car driver Clyde Vickers (hence the CV name).

Vickers raced cars in the late 1970s and early 1980s, during which time he often toyed with the notion of starting up a high performance auto racing parts manufacturing company. His thinking was that maybe there was a market out there for quality parts for NASCAR engines. In 1988, Clyde and his wife, Ramona, started buying up racing parts and then selling them to drivers and mechanics.

They operated out of a small 1,200-square-foot building in Highpoint, N.C. with one employee on the payroll. Their son, Brian — later to become a noted NASCAR racer — often rode his bike around the office. But the fledgling operation quickly gained a reputation for dependable service with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Today, we’re headquartered in a modern 35,000-square-foot office and warehouse distribution facility in Continue reading

CV-CarShowTwo-dozen proud car owners have already preregistered for CV Product’s 5th Annual Car Show this Saturday, October 5, 2012, at our headquarters in Thomasville, N.C., where former NASCAR racer Richard Petty might even make a guest appearance for autographs and photos.

As in past years, proceeds from this well-attended car show benefit two very worthy children’s organizations — Victory Junction and the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.

Awards will be presented in a number of categories, including Best in Show, People’s Choice, Camper’s Choice, Best Chevrolet, Best Ford, Best Chrysler, Best Non-Chevrolet GM, Best Late Model Muscle Chevrolet, Best Late Model Ford, Best Late Model Chrysler, Best Truck and Best Rat Rod.

If you have a vehicle that you’d like to enter into the show, registration runs right up to the day of the event with judging concluding at Continue reading

CV-XchangeWhen it comes to technology, change is almost always a good thing. And that’s especially true when you’re talking about cutting-edge race technology where improvements come about at a staggering pace. It’s like trying to maintain eye contact with a high-performance stock car as it whips past you on the circle track. It’s almost impossible to keep it in view.

Like it or not, when a new technology comes to the forefront, the result often means that yesterday’s hot products begin to diminish in stature. These products, while still excellent on their own merits — and through no fault of their own — become relegated to a back shelf. They begin to hold a little less status in the performance and racing industry. Think of it as a Circle of Life kind of thing, but without the ferocious lion.

And for a lot of us at CV Products, it’s also a guilt thing. That’s because as our company strives to offer the most advanced high performance racing parts on the planet — either on our shelves or in development — we still hate to see perfectly good equipment dumped because it’s no longer considered the latest or greatest.

Which is why we created CV Xchange, our newest division at CV Products. Truth of the matter is that while our visionary products are always in high demand by those in the racing community, we still have a raft of new and used goods that — while not exactly hot off the metal press — hold plenty of value for a lot of auto racers and car enthusiasts. Examples would be gear for those who are just starting out in racing, maybe building their first car.

CV Xchange also offers a Continue reading
