Christie Beightol, Xceldyne Engineer

Christie Beightol, Xceldyne Engineer

Maintaining a consistent enthusiasm for your job is easy to accomplish when you’re an experienced engineer working for one of the top racing valvetrain system manufacturers in the world and you’re also a gigantic fan of motorsports, racing and NASCAR. That saturated-in-satisfaction employee would by Christine Beightol, a mechanical engineer for Xceldyne Technologies, a division of CV Products headquartered in the same business park as our own headquarters in Thomasville, N.C.

For years, our team over at Xceldyne has set the bar for crafting durable, reliable and high-performance titanium valves and valvetrain components targeting the motorsport racing community. And Christine has been there with us, joining Xceldyne in the summer of 2007. She’s got a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute in Flint, Mich. (now Kettering University), and an associate of science degree in motorsports management technology from Rowan Cabarrus Community College in North Carolina.

Let’s learn a little bit more about this engineer with a penchant for speed. Meet Christine Beightol:

CV Products: What did you do prior to coming to work for CV Products?

Christine Beightol: I have held positions in quality and design engineering for various manufacturing companies in North Carolina. I also worked in the engine department at Bill Davis Racing in High Point before joining CV Products.

CV: What attracted you to CV Products?

Christine: I have always loved racing and wanted to Continue reading

Easter-Bunny-150What with Easter Sunday and all, it’s going to be a light schedule this weekend for those of us at CV Products who make the rounds of racetracks on a regular basis, accompanied by our tractor-trailers filled to the brim with racing gear, accessories and components.

Both events take place this Saturday, including the Pro All Stars Series Easter Bunny 150 at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C., and the Larry Fleeman Memorial Race at the Gresham Motorsports Park (GMP) in Jefferson, Georgia. It’s the Georgia event that we’re highlighting this week. Gresham Motorsports has designated this event as an annual memorial race to honor those who have passed and were loved by those in the auto racing community. This is the second year; the track has recognized long-time GMP supporter and car owner Larry Fleeman.

This year’s event is a 198-lap race consisting of two segments. What makes this race especially interesting is the 10-minute break at or around lap 100. Drivers who choose not to work on their cars during that break — and that includes tire changes and fuel — get to advance to the front of the field in the order they’re running. Work on your car during the break and you go back out in the order you enter the pits, but behind those who chose not to pit. That should make for some interesting switchie-changies on this half-mile banked oval track.

So pick an event this Saturday and we’ll see you at the races — where we’ll have plenty of race gear for drivers and their race crews: Continue reading

CV-Products-Trackside-VegasThe NASCAR-sanctioned Myrtle Beach 400 highlights this weekend’s events, a race that was postponed way back in November of last year. It’s been rescheduled for this Friday and we can pretty much guarantee it was worth the wait. Long known as the place to get a first look-see at future NASCAR champions, Myrtle Beach Speedway is where the biggest stars cut their teeth. We’re talking about four generations of Petty boys and three generations of Earnhardts for starters. This is a double-header weekend at this recently purchased and newly renovated racetrack in South Carolina.

Meanwhile, in Southern California — way over there on the left coast — you can find our CV Products tractor-trailer at a pair of NASCAR events within the noisy confines of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. We’ll be supplying parts and products to race teams at all four events on both coasts. Here’s our weekend schedule:

Royal Purple 300

Royal-Purple-300-LogoThis race marks the fifth on the NASCAR Nationwide Series for 2013, an event that saw Joey Logano lead the pack for 92 laps before collecting the checkered last year. Logano won’t be here this weekend, but Kyle Busch will. Busch holds the record for most Nationwide wins at Auto Club Speedway with five — all taking place within the last seven races at the Fontana venue.

It’s always nice to have a theme in mind when conducting a giant sale with prices slashed like they’ve never been slashed before. And without a doubt, the common thread running through this particular sale is safety. Below are 10 or so examples of safety gear that you can purchase for yourself, your race team, or maybe your teen-age son who erroneously believes a conservative freeway cruising speed in his hotrod is 80 mph.

Each item below is on sale through the close of business on Friday, March 29, and not all items are available on CVProducts.com (some deals require you to give us call between 8am – 6pm Monday thru Friday on either (800) 448-1223 or (336) 472-2242).

This promises to be a busy week on the auto racing circuit, what with three events at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, another pair in Florida and a Pro All Stars Series (PASS) race in South Carolina on the agenda.

What’s especially exciting this week are the races scheduled at Bristol Motor Speedway, where the short, half-mile track is guaranteed to make for some spectacular spectator opportunities — lots of fender benders, hurt feelings, and drama galore. It’s better than the soaps on TV!

And if you find yourself in the pits or garages of any of these races, pay close attention to the gear the crews are attaching to these high-performance auto-racing machines. That’s right. Many of those CV parts and accessories that you rely on for your amateur race pursuits are standard on these racecars.

With that in mind, we hope you’ll stop by and visit our reps at one of these racetracks this weekend. Here’s where you’ll find us:
