These days you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t know someone who has been affected by the ravages of cancer. That’s one reason why CV Products employee Christine Beightol is once again organizing participants for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser scheduled this Friday in Lexington, N.C.

Relay-for-Life-logoChristine is an engineer at our company’s Xceldyne Technologies division and 2013 marks the third year in a row that she has organized CV Products employees to help raise money for this volunteer-driven cancer fund-raising event. Her relay team is called Faith, Hope, Fight, Heal, and has actively participated since 2010 as a way to encourage her friends and our employees and their families to walk in support of a great cause.

Christine says that since that inaugural walk, many CV employees have become more aware of the numbers of people they know who have been affected in some manner by cancer. These employees have themselves been a survivor, a caretaker for a cancer patient, or they’ve know known someone who has had cancer or lost a battle with this terrible disease.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Relay for Life began back in 1985 when a colorectal surgeon named Dr. Gordon Klatt chose to walk around the University of Puget Sound’s stadium track for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, as well as celebrate the lives of survivors and the lives of those who lost their lives to the disease.

Pretty soon, Dr. Klatt’s overnight event began cropping up in communities throughout the country, with participants bringing tents and sleeping bags and making an entire night out of it. In fact, nearly Continue reading

A lot of race fans have a hard time wrapping their heads around the concept of auto racing as a team sport. But it is. And like the racecars they design, build, repair or race, these teams are made up of many elements. There are the drivers, of course, the mechanics, the pit crew, the transportation folks and those who order and manage parts. Like we said, it’s a team effort.

And it’s for darned sure the whole team can’t all show up in the pits on race day. Somebody’s got to stay behind at the shop to work on car and engine setups for future races and manage the processing of ordering, stocking and supplying the hundreds of high performance auto racing parts required to make a car and its driver compete in those races. So it was these folks that we invited a cookout during the recent Daytona 500 race season kickoff. Our intent was to honor of all those hard-working parts and equipment folks who make CV Product’s participation in that famed race — and the 2013 race season — possible.

Festivities took place at CV Products’ Mooresville, N.C. location, smack dab in the middle of race week — and included big-screen coverage of the Budweiser Duels on Thursday afternoon. We served up Continue reading

CV-Products-TracksideFollowing the thrilling action last weekend at Daytona Beach, it’s looking like this will be a short weekend for our product trailer crews with our participation amounting to just three events in a pair of states. The schedule calls for us to make our way to the Circuit of the Americas racetrack in Austin, Texas, and Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona over the first three days of March.

We only mention this in case you’re attending any of these race venues and have a hankering for some of our outstanding equipment, parts and clothing. When we say we’ve got trailer loads of stuff, we literally mean 53-foot-long tractor-trailers filled to the brim with racing products to please race participants and spectators alike.

Here’s the events we’ll be attending this weekend:

GRAND-AM of The Americas presented by GAINSCO and TOTAL

Qualifying day is Friday, March 1, for the Pro Mazda, Continental Tire Challenge and Rolex Series races, with practice runs beginning at 8 a.m. sharp!
