Chris-Horton-CV-ProductsLate last year, the head honchos here at CV Products got together to choose our Employee of The Year. Officially recognized with the Larry “Bunk” Nichols Award for outstanding achievement, the employee of the year must meet specific criteria, including:

  • Work at the company or one of our subsidiaries for at least three (3) years
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic
  • Support humanitarian efforts
  • Uphold our three core values (integrity, teamwork, and safety)

Our 2013 employee of the year – CV’s Continuous Improvement Facilitator, Chris Horton – certainly lived up to the standards we set for outstanding achievement. This October, Chris will celebrate his 15-year anniversary with our company. After joining us in 1999, he worked his way up through the warehouse to the Warehouse Manager position before being promoted to his current job.

A volunteer firefighter in our local community, Chris was instrumental in the success of two recent projects here at CV. As many people know, in April of 2013, we acquired Cycra Racing Systems. What you may not know is that Chris was a member of the team that Continue reading

With the city of Thomasville annually hosting one of North Carolina’s largest Memorial Day parades, it seems only fitting and fair that we here at CV Products should take Monday off to participate in this event.

Thomasville-NC-Memorial_Day-2013So we’ll be closing up shop at 6 p.m. Eastern Time this Friday, May 24, and reopening our doors at 8 a.m. sharp on Tuesday, May 28, so our employees can enjoy Memorial Day with their families and honor our nation’s veterans.

And speaking of veterans, we’ve got a few in our midst here at CV Products who should be recognized. They include our Product Manager for Drive Systems Bill Wheatley, who served in the Air Force from 1968-1972; our Outside Sales Rep George Hunt, a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran who served for six years; IT Manager Jason Siler, a Navy man from 1993 to 1996; and our Quality Manager Tommy Wright, a four-year Air Force veteran.

Thomasville has long been known as an enthusiastic participant in Memorial Day activities, starting with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial on I-85 each year and followed by a parade featuring area military personnel.

Not even the government’s sequestration of military assets this year will hamper the city’s plans for a patriotic march from the downtown area to Cushwa Stadium. What the city’s movers and shakers have done is scramble up some civilian support and assets to participate in next Monday’s parade — and the response has been huge. Dozens of Continue reading

These days you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t know someone who has been affected by the ravages of cancer. That’s one reason why CV Products employee Christine Beightol is once again organizing participants for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser scheduled this Friday in Lexington, N.C.

Relay-for-Life-logoChristine is an engineer at our company’s Xceldyne Technologies division and 2013 marks the third year in a row that she has organized CV Products employees to help raise money for this volunteer-driven cancer fund-raising event. Her relay team is called Faith, Hope, Fight, Heal, and has actively participated since 2010 as a way to encourage her friends and our employees and their families to walk in support of a great cause.

Christine says that since that inaugural walk, many CV employees have become more aware of the numbers of people they know who have been affected in some manner by cancer. These employees have themselves been a survivor, a caretaker for a cancer patient, or they’ve know known someone who has had cancer or lost a battle with this terrible disease.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Relay for Life began back in 1985 when a colorectal surgeon named Dr. Gordon Klatt chose to walk around the University of Puget Sound’s stadium track for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, as well as celebrate the lives of survivors and the lives of those who lost their lives to the disease.

Pretty soon, Dr. Klatt’s overnight event began cropping up in communities throughout the country, with participants bringing tents and sleeping bags and making an entire night out of it. In fact, nearly Continue reading
