CV Products Acquires Cycra Racing Systems

CV Products —  April 4, 2013 | Category: Company News | Comment

Our auto racing-obsessed family here at CV Products experienced a major growth spurt this week with the addition of two well-respected powersports brands to the corporate fold — Cycra  and HardStreet. In short, we acquired 100 percent ownership of Cycra Racing Systems based in Hebron, Ohio. This deal expands our racing manufacturing base and puts additional emphasis on our company’s slogan, “Everything Racing.”

What was it that attracted us to this powersports industry leader? For starters, Cycra Racing Systems is well regarded in the motorcycle and race industry, manufacturing their quality equipment right here in the good old USA!

Cycra Racing Systems is also one of the top manufacturers of plastic body and protection gear for the motorcycle industry, utilizing a state-of-the-art injection molding and thermo-molding processes to create front and rear fenders, radiator shrouds, fork guards, mud flaps, disc covers and speed armor, among other powersports equipment. Cycra provides race teams like Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Suzuki and Kawasaki with products, such as Probend handguards, Powerflow body kits, vented number plates and streamlined body panels.

HardStreet is a sister brand to Cycra. It designs, manufactures and sells award-winning hard saddlebags, slimbags and tour bags and accessories that are custom fit to Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, as well as metric bikes, cruisers and custom motorcycles.

Brothers Ken and Glen Laivins — a pair of experienced motorcycle riders and racers in their own right — founded these two powersports brands, opening a design studio in the late 1990s with the mission of building the coolest stuff on the planet. Today, operating out of a 57,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Ohio, the brothers have seen their dream become a reality, producing quality racing equipment and accessories as well as all-weather saddlebags with twice the capacity of other manufacturers.

Here at CV Products, we’ve been represented in the powersports market for the past ten years through our CV4 division. But what we’re talking about here are brands that have their roots in racing and manufacturing — whether the focus is NASCAR racecars on an oval track or off-road bikes on a dirt trail.

Cycra produces equipment that aligns perfectly with our business strategies and core competencies here at CV Products. And that can only spell success to you — our customers. This acquisition means we can expand our existing powersports brands — including CV4, X2 and Xceldyne — without any disruption to our auto racing customer base.

It’s a win win, win for all three brands, and we’re looking forward to the unlimited possibilities that this opportunity creates for the future of CV Products!
