CV Everything Racing LogoWe’ve got a half dozen races on the agenda for this weekend, including a Pro All Stars Series in Hickory, N.C., in which CV Products is the title sponsor. We’ll tell you more about that race on the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway later, but know this: We’ll have our semi-trailers filled with racing parts and accessories at all six venues between now and Sunday, in case you think we’re playing favorites. But if you are at the Hickory track, stop by and tell us what great sponsors we are. See you at the races!

ZLOOP 150

Aaron Grosskopf, the 23-year-old founder of DisabledRacers.com, is the grand marshal for Friday’s ZLOOP 150 at the Kentucky Speedway. Aaron was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a tot, but works today to help the disabled get behind a wheel and race. His friendship with ARCA rookie Justin Boston led to this honor on Friday. DisabledRacers.com involves the disabled with simulated racing.

Saturday night’s Over The Mountain 150 Presented By CV Products – yes, that CV Products – promises some competitive PASS South Super Late Model and PASS Pro Late Model teams on the .363-mile track, including defending Super Late Model Champion Kyle Grissom. In fact, Grissom made his stock car racing debut at Hickory back in 2004, so you might count this venue among his favorites.

8th Annual PASS 400 Weekend

PASS-LOGOThe old saying that the cream always rises to the top certainly is an accurate statement for the PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine. September 15 marks the 9th anniversary of the event at one of Maine’s premiere facilities, located just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean seacoast. When you think of Maine, you think of lobster and fresh seafood. When you think of auto racing in Maine, you think of the PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge. When the checkered flag falls on Sunday, will it be an Ironman veteran, or and up and coming young racer sitting in victory lane?

This weekend’s race marks the 94th appearance of the ARCA Racing Series at Salem since debuting on the historic high-banked, half-mile oval in 1955. Geico 400

11-geico400_cls_cthumbThe Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is a sprint, not a test of endurance. That’s why Sunday’s GEICO 400 at Chicagoland Speedway (2 p.m. ET, ESPN, MRN Radio, SiriusXM Radio) could loom crucial among the 10 events making up this year’s Chase. Since becoming the postseason’s opening race, the GEICO 400’s two winners – Brad Keselowski and Tony Stewart – have gone on to capture the Cup championship. Kurt Busch also won the Chase opener at New Hampshire Motor Speedway en route to the 2004 title. This year’s top three seeds – Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch – have a total of one win at the 1.5-mile track located in Joliet, Ill. Busch, the No. 3 seed with 2,012 points, won in 2008 but has posted an average finish of 19.0 in four subsequent starts.

CV-Trackside-Photo-OneWhat’s stacking up to be another busy Trackside Program weekend is already underway in some auto racing venues, including tomorrow’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Richmond, Va., and the World 100 Crown at the Eldora Speedway in Ohio. But rest assured. CV Products will be on hand at all six events planned through Sunday, offering drivers and spectators with pit passes alike the best in racing equipment and gear. For visitors with pit passes, come down and look through our 53-foot-long trailers for the goodies you need for speed.

Here’s where you’ll find us:

43rd Annual World 100 Crown

EldoraSpeedwayThe World 100 — traditionally run on the weekend after Labor Day — wraps up Saturday with the winner netting $46,000 in the 100-lap finale. This year, the three-day event features a record $283,910 purse, with Eldora Speedway concluding four complete Late Model events over seven days. Saturday’s format of six heat races leads up to an enlarged 32-car starting field for the World 100.

Virginia 529 College Savings 250

RIR-09-0677 VI529_CS250_V3aFriday’s race is a historic event, commemorating the 1,000th NASCAR Nationwide Series race. This landmark race can be seen at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and heard on Motor Racing Network Radio, Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Dale Earnhardt won the inaugural event back on Feb. 13, 1982, and the Nationwide Series has since been a proving ground for drivers trying to earn a seat in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ever since. Eight Nationwide Series winners made it to the Sprint Cup Series, including Alan Kulwicki, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski. Keselowski is the only driver to have won titles in NASCAR’s top two series.

Federated Auto Parts 400

fedautopartsthumbSome days it’s just nice to be Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Saturday is one of those days. In order for Dale to qualify for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, he has to finish 32nd or better in Saturday’s 400-lap race at the Richmond International Speedway (7:30 p.m. on ET ABC, MRN Radio, Sirius XM Radio). In racing terminology, that’s a piece of cake. Racers Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth already have Top 10 spots. Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch complete the provisional top 10, scoring 16, 14 and six points ahead of 11th-place Jeff Gordon.

We’ve got a half-dozen races we’ll be supporting for this long holiday weekend — with a few of them stretching into the first two days of September. Included among these action-bursting Labor Day extravaganzas are a Le Mans series, two NASCAR races, a Pro All-Stars event and an ARCA Racing series.

And if you happen to be among those lucky souls upon whom fate has bestowed pit passes, come visit our humongous CV Products tractor-trailers filled to their 53-foot-long lengths with racing equipment, shop gear and race-related tools. Help us usher out the summer season and welcome the fall. See you at the track.

Grand Prix of Baltimore

This third annual Grand Prix of Baltimore is one of only two events in the United States to feature the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in the same weekend. The IZOD IndyCar Series runs 75 laps around downtown Baltimore’s 12-turn, two-mile street course. In the ALMS race, the team completing the most laps in two hours and 45 minutes wins. In addition to the racing action, this event offers visitors food, beverages and live musical entertainment.

This is the 24th race on the 2013 Nationwide Series schedule, with Kevin Harvick and Joe Nemechek being the only drivers entered who have previously won at this track (in 2009 and 2001, respectively). Four Nationwide races at Atlanta Motor Speedway have been won from the pole, which is more than any other starting position there. The next Nationwide race is the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 6. Kevin Harvick won last year’s race there.

  • Series: NASCAR Nationwide Series

South_boston_speedway_logoPASS Super Late Model 150

It’s Carload Night at South Boston Speedway’s four-tenths-mile asphalt oval Saturday for $20, with the first of six races getting underway at 7 p.m. (ET). The co-featured attractions include twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division and an event for the touring PASS Super Late Models. Also scheduled are the Limited Sportsman Division and a pair of races for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. Lee Pulliam, the winner of 14 events at South Boston Speedway this season and 22 overall triumphs, will once again be looking to fend off bounty hunters Saturday night when the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division competitors battle it out in a pair of races. A $2,500 bounty is being offered by the track to any driver who can win over Pulliam while his car is still included in field that finishes the race!

Champion_Racing_Association_logoWorld Stock Car Festival

There will be special bonus programs and increased winner’s checks for two divisions during Sunday and Monday’s “World Stock Car Festival” at the half-mile Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Ind. The top three finishers in each division that haven’t raced in a CRA event this year will receive bonuses of $100, $50, and $30. Those divisions include the Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman as well as the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. The Labor Day weekend event also features three full days of camping, parties and music, culminating Monday afternoon with features from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models, Top Speed Modifieds, Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks.

advocare500_11thumbAdvoCare 500

Sunday’s AdvoCare 500 officially ushers out the summer and has, in recent years, solidified the lineup for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Three Chase spots have already been claimed, leaving nine positions to be determined, either here or next week at Richmond International Raceway. Reigning champion Brad Keselowski enters this next-to-final race ranked 11th – four points out of the top 10. Kurt Busch, the 2004 titleholder, stands 12th and four-time champion Jeff Gordon is 13th. None of the three has won in 2013. A victory certainly would push each into the top 10 – and also provide potential Chase Wild Card access, available to the two highest-ranked drivers 11th through 20th in points.

Trackside at Kansas Speedway

Trackside at Kansas Speedway

This weekend features tons of great racing. From a 200-mile race at Mid-Ohio, a 400-miler at Michigan International Speedway, and 150-lapper at South Boston Speedway, to a Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway and a 100-mile race at the Illinois State Fairground, this weekend’s slate of races promises solid action on a variety of tracks and locations.

Like our unofficial slogan says, at CV Products, we’re here when you need us (online 24/7/365 at www.CVProducts.com) and there when you want us (at the six races listed below, including the SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway, which is pictured above and to the right):

Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200

nationwidechildrens200thumbWhat to watch for: With half-a-dozen races remaining before a new NASCAR Nationwide Series champion is crowned, predicting the outcome is becoming harder with every passing weekend. After last Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen in upstate New York, only 74 points separate the top-10 drivers in the standings – a difference that the 10th-place driver (Parker Kligerman) could plausibly make up in only two races. The outcome of this weekend’s race at Mid-Ohio should make everything in the points standings as clear as mud!

  • Racetrack: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course – Lexington, OH

Pure Michigan 400

PM_MIS_logo_v3CWhat to watch for: Last Sunday, Carl Edwards scored a fourth-place finish – his 99th career top-five finish. His next top-five finish will make him the 37th driver to reach 100 top fives and tie him with Geoff Bodine on the all-time list. More important, Edwards has nine top-five finishes in 18 starts at Michigan!

PASS Super Late Model 150

NASCAR-Whelen-LogoWhat to watch for: The Pro All Stars Series returns to South Boston Speedway this Saturday for what appears to be another great day and night of practice sessions, qualifying and all out pedal to the metal racing. In particular, South Boston Speedway track general manager Cathy Rice is offering a $2,000 bounty to any driver who can score a victory over three-time track winner and defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam. Practice sessions for PASS Super Late Model, Legends and NASCAR Late Model drivers runs from 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. (ET), followed by time trials at 4:30 p.m., and a trackside fan appreciation event from 5:45 p.m. to 6 :45 p.m. The Green Flags start to drop at 7 p.m. with a 25-lap Legends race, a 75-lap NASCAR Late Model race, a 150-lap PASS Super Late Model race, and then another 75-lap NASCAR Late Model race.

When the racing is as good as it’s expected to be this weekend in upstate New York and points throughout the Southeast and Mid-West, there’s only thing to do… load up your Trackside Program tractor-trailers and hit the road. ‘Here when you need us (at www.CVProducts.com) and there when you want us,’ takes on a whole new meaning over the next bunch of days when we’ll be supporting race teams and drivers at seven different events.

Here’s where to find CV Products now through Monday, Aug. 11:

CHEEZ-IT 355 at the Glen

cheezit355thumbWhat to watch for: Could this weekend be the one where Jeff Gordon breaks through and wins his first race of the season and his 87th since joining the Cup series in 1994? If history’s any indication, Gordon – who ranked 21st in the Sprint Cup standings just a few months ago, and advanced to ninth place with his runner-up finish last weekend at Pocono Raceway – could very well be celebrating at the end of the day. That’s because he’s the Cup’s most successful road course driver, having won nine times overall, four of them coming on Watkins Glen International’s seven-turn, 2.45-mile course.

ZIPPO 200

zippo200_thumbWhat to watch for: Look for Sam Hornish Jr. (currently tied for second in the Nationwide Series points standings) to separate some from Regan Smith. That’s because Smith – who has accumulated the least number of points of anyone in the Series’ Top 10 standings over the last seven races, doesn’t have anywhere near the experience and success on road courses that Hornish has. According to NASCAR, in the six trips to road courses with the Nationwide Series, Hornish has finished in the top five in the most recent four races. That’s likely because of his time spent on the road while racing in the Sprint Cup Series and IndyCar Series. A win this weekend at Watkins Glen would only further highlight Hornish’s 11 career road-course starts, including a 2nd place finish in 2007 in the IndyCar Series race.

31st Annual Sunoco North/South 100

northsouthlogowebWhat to watch for: Anticipation is brewing for what many people recognize as the dirt racing world’s Super Bowl and World Series all rolled into one. This mega three-day event – where late model racing fans get to enjoy camping, parties, autograph sessions with drivers, and a midway full of food and apparel vendors – also includes the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The series makes its way to Florence Speedway with a tight battle atop the series championship point standings. Two-time and reigning series champion Jimmy Owens has a 20-point lead over Continue reading
